Baker's secret

Dorando Pietri, an Italian marathon runner and a baker, decided to improve his result by taking brandy with strychnine, which in small amount boosts the energy. He drunk his drink behind back on the halfway of the marathon, but the dose was higher than needed. He was the first to run inside the stadium, all of a sudden he has lost his orientation and run to the opposing side of the finish line. He was directed towards the right side, but 70 meters before the finish line Dorando Pietri fell unconscious. Referees lifted him up and helped to get to the finish line. There were no rules on doping at that time. However Italian athlete did not get any medal, because he was disqualified for physical assistance.
